Welcome

Hello all,

Thank you for taking the time to visit my newest blog. The purpose for this blog is to supplement our classroom learning and to provide an opportunity for those who may have missed class time to find out what they missed.  Although this blog is not a required component of the curriculum at our school, it is my belief that this blog will assist all levels of learners in engaging the subject  of U. S. History and give them a more in depth look into daily/weekly lessons.

In order to facilitate an online learning environment conducive to all learners I will attempt to make this blog as accessible as possible to each student, based upon their feedback. I do not require students to use this blog; however, I do strongly suggest that they visit this blog at least once a week, as there may be essential information added as the lessons unfold. This blog should prove to be a successful resource for those students who may not have the full understanding of the subject matter; the advantage is that they will be able to access this blog and view the information multiple times.

Sometimes time can interrupt instruction, for example: if a lesson runs longer than expected and there was not enough time to cover all the material, then I might post that material here so students can still get the fullness of the lesson.

This blog will also benefit those students who need to review, those who may have missed class time, or those who need to supplement their learning at a pace more comfortable for them. Ultimately, the goal of this blog is to provide additional resources for student success. To help facilitate this, there will be links posted in a separate column on the main page of this blog which will help students navigate to other trusted sites I may use for supplemental instruction. Amongst those links will be a hyperlink to: Mr. Horvat's U.S. History Wiki - another online tool where students will be able to access all the classroom information they may need to help complete and submit projects, continue class discussion, or any other relevant information. I highly stress that the Wiki is visited regularly.

I hope that the students not only enjoy this additional learning tool, but also can become key contributors to its success.

Best Regards,
Mr. Horvat
